How to block apps on my iPhone using Focus Modes?

While Apple allows you to disable notifications for certain apps using Focus Modes, it doesn’t natively offer the option to block apps completely. However, you can do this for free by linking Jomo to your Focus Mode.

🌙 What is Focus Mode?

Since 2021, Apple introduced the "Focus" feature, available in the Settings of your iPhone, Mac, and iPad. It lets you quickly adjust your device's setup without having to reconfigure everything (wallpaper, app organization, color options, etc.). By default, the available modes are: "Do Not Disturb," "Sleep," and "Work." You can activate these modes manually, automatically, or when you open certain apps.

For each of these modes, you can add extra filters, especially to trigger actions in third-party apps. These additional actions are called Focus Filters.

Jomo offers a filter that blocks the apps of your choice when a Focus Mode is activated. ‎

🔒 How to block apps when my Focus Mode is active?

Set up your session according to your preferences. This is where you can choose which apps will be blocked. In the ${color}#0061ff section, make sure to select ${color}[#0061ff](Always on).

Estimated screen time is incorrect

Jomo provides an estimate of your daily screen time on your iPhone/iPad. It's used in various parts of the app where Apple's Screen Time data isn't yet accessible: blocking rules (limits, etc.), squads, widgets, and more.

Your estimated screen time should closely match your actual screen time (a 5-10 minute difference is normal). If the estimate is significantly inaccurate, follow these troubleshooting steps.‎

↗️ Estimated screen time is HIGHER than actual screen time

If your estimate is much higher than your actual screen time, it might be counting usage from your other Apple devices, like your Mac or iPad. To fix this, do this on every Apple device you use:

Open the Settings app.
Tap ${color}[#0061ff](Screen Time.)
Turn off ${color}[#0061ff](Share Across Devices.)

The change takes effect tomorrow. If your estimate is still wrong the next day, it could be a bug merging screen time from different devices even with sharing off. While waiting for Apple to fix it, do this on all devices except your main iPhone:

Open Settings.
Tap ${color}[#0061ff](Screen Time.)
Tap ${color}[#0061ff](Turn Off App and Website Activity.)

In a few hours or the next day, your estimate should be accurate. ‎‎

If you encounter a technical issue, don't worry. Try these four steps in order, and 99% of problems should resolve quickly. This article is regularly updated, and the solutions provided have been tested and verified before being recommended to you.

🔄 1. Restart the blocking

The connection between Jomo and Apple's Screen Time may occasionally encounter issues. That’s why we added a button to quickly reset the blocking of apps and websites . Here’s how to reconnect:

Open Jomo, then go to ${color}#0061ff
Tap the ❓ icon at the top right.
Tap ${color}[#0061ff](Reset Blocking.)
Wait a few seconds, then check if Jomo now correctly blocks or unblocks content.

🔎 2. Check your rules and selected apps and websites

If resetting the blocking didn’t work, it’s time to check your rules — you may find that Jomo is working exactly as it should! Quickly review the status of the rule, as well as the selected apps and websites for each of your sessions and conditions.

If you have other screen time apps installed on your phone, check if they have active blocking rules. Some apps, like Opal, automatically add a blocking session during work hours.

How to share my Jomo Plus subscription between multiple devices?

Sharing your Jomo Plus plan across multiple devices is easy. Make sure:

All your devices are signed in with the same Apple ID.
You're logged into the same Jomo account on each device. One account = one subscription. If you use multiple Jomo accounts, your subscription will keep switching from one device to another.
Tap “Restore Purchases” on each device.

By default, your account is categorized as “Anonymous”. Once the email is associated, it becomes a “real” account, ready to be deployed on all your devices! Here's how to create an account:

On Jomo iOS, when your rule is locked by Strict Mode, you won’t be able to:

Remove the blocking rule
Edit your blocking rule (except for a few options like adding new apps or websites to block)

Change your iPhone’s date and time

On Jomo Mac, when your rule is locked by Strict Mode, you won’t be able to:
